The Beginning

So yeah here we are, I just created a blog. I'll be honest with you I'm not even sure where to start but I'll be writing thing as it cross my mind for this first post. I wanted to create a blog to keep track of my home brew adventure and hopefully contribute to the community.

I haven't started to make beer yet but I've been reading a lot on it for a little more then two months. I began to be interested in making my own beer when I saw a Mr. Beer kits on the internet a couple years ago. I never took the time to get into it and never thought I would be doing it any time soon either, but apparently I was unknowingly looking for a new hobby and this post from Reddit made me took the plunge. The thought of having a LAN party with a Diablo III themed home brewed beer was so cool, I wanted to do the same.

Two minutes later I was already subscribing to the Reddit home brewing community, which as of now has almost 30k members. This subsection of Reddit, called subreddit, has given me lots of good information's in the past two months and the community is so great, that I would not hesitate to recommend it to beginners or advance brewers.

If you are a beginner like me I would recommend this book "How to Brew: Everything You Need To Know To Brew Beer Right The First Time" by John J. Palmer, as it was previously recommended to me by the reddit community. This book is divided in two sections. The first section, which is where I'm at right now and will probably be for the first few batch, gives you a comprehensive and great introduction to home brewing. The second section cover more advance subjects, like all-grain brew and water chemistry, which are two subject that I have merely looked at. I won't spend too much time talking about this book as I will probably refer to it a lot in my future posts, but if you want to start home brewing, go buy this book you won't regret it.

That will be all for now, I hope you have enjoyed this small reading. I will be reading some more and begin thinking of my next posts.

See you later,
Eric
